  • Man charged with assault and violent disorder in Newcastle West Assault · Co. Limerick

    Four men were involved in an assault on Bishop Street, Newcastle West, Co Limerick, around 1:30am on Sunday 25 May 2025, in which two men repeatedly punched and kicked two others, including kicks to the face and head. One man in his 30s was taken to University Hospital Limerick with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Robert Chiper, 31, of Liosan, Newcastle West, was arrested at Newcastle West garda station on 30 May and charged with violent disorder and assault causing harm. He appeared at a special sitting of Limerick District Court the same evening, made no reply to the charges, was bailed with conditions, and the matter was adjourned to 22 July for DPP directions.
