Ricky Power (40), a man, was jailed for 18 months at Tullamore District Court in September 2023 for shoplifting, burglary and stealing from a parochial house in Tullamore, County Offaly. The offences ran from June to October 2022, beginning with an alleged attempted break-in at Grand Canal Court on 5 June and the theft of €4,000 worth of goods from the Parochial House on 11 June, which was committed while he was on bail. They also included a €670 theft from a Tullamore post office on 28 September and a spree of six Lidl shoplifting offences from 6 October. Judge Andrew Cody imposed six-month terms, to run concurrently, for the Lidl and related offences and 12 months, to run consecutively, for the parochial house theft, giving 18 months in total. The judge refused to reduce the total and fixed recognisances for an appeal if Power chose to lodge one.
