Richard Muldarry, a 44-year-old former sergeant with the Defence Forces, is alleged to have sexually assaulted a female colleague and a male colleague at a military base between 2.10am and 5.30am on 13 November 2021. He was found guilty of three counts of sexual assault, two counts of assault and two counts of misconduct at a limited court martial at McKee Barracks, Dublin, in April 2024. The defence had argued he was entitled to a special verdict of guilty by reason of insanity due to concussion. On 1 October 2024, Military Judge Col Michael Campion sentenced him to five days' detention and a fine of €5,100, with six-month suspended sentences for each sexual assault count.
