Rhys Wing, a 25-year-old man from Belfast, was driving on the N7 in Curraghfarm, Kildare, on 11 March 2023 with three different types of cannabis in his system. He pleaded guilty to the road traffic offence at Naas District Court on 6 July 2023, where the court noted he had no previous convictions and was co-operative on the day of the offence. His barrister, Mark Gibbons, told the court he was very embarrassed and ashamed. He was banned from driving for one year and fined €650, payable within three months.
