Revenue officers seized approximately 31kg of suspected herbal cannabis, worth an estimated €620,000, at Shannon Airport on 11 May 2026. Bulgarian woman Renata Baeva, 40, and man Yavor Kostov, 30, with different addresses in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria, were arrested by Gardaí attached to the Clare Divisional Drugs Unit and charged. At Ennis District Court on 4 September 2026, new charges for importing cannabis worth €13,000 or more and possession for supply were added. The judge directed that Baeva receive psychiatric attention immediately and remanded both to appear by video link on 9 September.
