Renat Rotari, an 18-year-old man, is accused of dangerous driving on the R494 at Cullina, Ballina, Co Tipperary, on 21 May 2025. Gardaí reported seeing an Audi A4 driving at speed over the Killaloe/Ballina bridge, and said it sped off when a middle vehicle turned into an estate, which they believed was an attempt to evade them. The charge is contrary to Section 53(1) of the Road Traffic Act. Rotari appeared at Killaloe District Court sitting in Ennis on Tuesday, the day before his first Leaving Cert paper, and the case was adjourned to 1 July so he can plead guilty or confirm he will contest it. The latest development is that adjournment, with no plea recorded in the reports.
