On 4 February 2025, Gardaí raided a property in Dunleer, Louth, and discovered a cannabis cultivation operation with 60 plants and over 6kg of harvested material. Renaldas Talocka, a 54-year-old Lithuanian man, and another man in his 30s or 50s were arrested and detained under the Criminal Justice (Drugs Trafficking) Act 1996. Talocka, who had been in Ireland for only four days, later pleaded guilty to having over €13,000 worth of cannabis for sale or supply. In June 2026, Judge Dara Hayes at Dundalk Circuit Court sentenced him to three years and three months, backdated to his custody, with no portion suspended.
