Raymond Valentine, a man aged 60, pleaded guilty in July 2021 to three counts of sexual exploitation of a child at a number of locations in Dublin between June 2012 and June 2013. The victim, a 16-year-old woman in care, was given alcohol, sexually assaulted and subjected to attempted penetrative sex over a period of almost a year. Valentine, of Belarmine, Stepaside, Dublin, denied all wrongdoing and continued to meet the girl despite a court order. On 9 November 2021, Judge Martin Nolan sentenced him to four years' imprisonment.
