Raymond McGuire, a 40-year-old man of St Peter's Drive, Walkinstown, Dublin 12, pleaded guilty to assaulting his former partner, a woman, at her home in Walkinstown on 19 July 2018 and to harassing her on 27 July 2018. According to garda evidence, he threatened to kill her, struck her with a cushion and whipped her with a television cable, then returned two hours later by smashing a front-door pane to enter. He also contacted her 54 times on 27 July 2018, shouting abuse and sending abusive WhatsApp messages. On 5 February 2025 at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, Judge Martin Nolan imposed a two-year prison sentence, suspended in full, and ordered McGuire to pay the woman €4,000.
