  On June 10, Rama Briody (32), of Longford, was found under the influence of alcohol while persistently shouting in the middle of a housing estate at Ard Alainn, Longford. He was charged with being found drunk in public and with threatening and abusive behaviour. At the District Court sitting the week before the report, published June 30, he said he was very ashamed and embarrassed by his actions, and his solicitor said he was more than cordial when off alcohol. The case was adjourned to October 3, when the judge said the court was open to not recording a conviction if he paid €350 to the court poor box.
