• Joe O'Reilly applies for parole in Naul murder case Murder · Co. Dublin

Rachel Callaly, 30, was bludgeoned to death by her husband Joe O'Reilly, 45, at their home in Naul, North Co Dublin on 4 October 2004. O'Reilly staged the killing as a burglary, but phone evidence and his lie about an affair with Nikki Pelley led to his conviction at a trial in summer 2007, when he was sentenced to life in prison. He has never admitted the crime and has lost every appeal. O'Reilly is now making his fourth bid for parole, with Rachel's mother Rose Callaly vowing to keep fighting to keep him behind bars.
