latest first- Supreme Court to hear appeals over doctor's suspension and deportation Deportation
Prof Ray O'Sullivan, a consultant gynaecologist at St Luke's Hospital in Kilkenny, is alleged to have carried out unauthorised and unapproved procedures on five female patients in September 2018 without their knowledge or consent. The Court of Appeal ruled in March 2022 that his suspension should be lifted immediately, citing a 2019 report that identified no patient safety concerns, and the HSE appealed to the Supreme Court. In July 2022 the Supreme Court agreed to hear the HSE's appeal and, on the same day, also agreed to hear an appeal against a deportation order issued to a Nigerian national who is the father of three children lawfully residing in the State. O'Sullivan denies the claims against him.
