  In the early hours of 7 May 2022, 38-year-old Prabhjot Singh assaulted Dubliner Shane Dalton, who is half Pakistani, at his Taste of India restaurant in Letterkenny, Co. Donegal, after objecting to Dalton speaking Urdu to his boyfriend Robert Shevlin. Singh slapped and punched Dalton, who could not properly open his eye for a week. Singh denied the charge at Letterkenny District Court, but Judge Ciaran Liddy found the prosecution had proven its case and sentenced him to 12 months' imprisonment. Singh's legal team said they would appeal the sentence.

  Two brothers, Bhupinder Singh, 37, and Prabhjot Singh, 36, are to stand trial for allegedly falsely imprisoning Thomas Sweeney and assaulting Sweeney and Ciaran Hunter at the Taste of India takeaway on Lower Main Street, Letterkenny, on 20 May 2022. The men appeared at separate sittings of Letterkenny District Court where books of evidence were served on each. The DPP consented to the matter being sent forward for trial, and both were returned for trial to Letterkenny Circuit Court. The next sitting of the court begins on 29 October 2024.
