  PJ O'Shea, 31, was jailed for stealing from parked cars in the Crescent Court estate in Portlaoise, Co Laois. The offending took place over three nights beginning on February 6, and he faced ten charges over the break-ins. He appeared before Portlaoise District Court, pleaded guilty to the offences, and was jailed for four months, backdated to February 16. The sentence was reported on April 21, 2024.

  At about 10.30am on March 8, 2022, PJ O'Shea, a 30-year-old man of Portlaoise, spat at a garda from behind while being taken to a holding cell at Portlaoise District Court in County Laois, leaving saliva on the garda's boots. He was charged with assault in relation to the offence, and at the court he admitted spitting on the garda and asked for his guilty plea to be taken into account. In May 2023 the court imposed a one-month jail sentence to run after his current sentence, which has a release date of September 2, 2023.

  PJ O'Shea, 29, of Portlaoise, admitted stealing two Nike hoodies valued at €110 from Lifestyle Sports in Portlaoise on 3 March 2022, meat worth €70 from Supervalu in Lyster Square on the same day, and meat worth €80 from Supervalu on 1 March 2022. In each case he took the goods and left without paying. The case was heard before Judge Patricia Cronin, who sentenced him to six months in prison with the final month suspended on a 12-month probation condition. The defence highlighted his ongoing drug issues and a completed in-prison detox.
