Piotr Matuszewski, a 53-year-old man, was convicted of driving without insurance and driving while disqualified at Cherryville, County Kildare, on 6 July 2021. He was serving a four-year driving disqualification imposed in 2018 at the time of the offence and had four previous drink-driving convictions. On 26 January 2023, Judge Desmond Zaidan at Naas District Court sentenced him to five months in custody and a six-year driving disqualification. Defending solicitor Tim Kennelly acknowledged alcohol problems, and the judge noted a pattern of alcohol-related offences.
