A deliberate house fire at Killeen Heights, Tralee, Co Kerry, on 12 May 2012 killed Anthony O'Brien, aged 30, and his five-year-old daughter Nadine O'Brien. Philip Griffin, aged 37, was extradited from the UK in February 2024 and charged with their murders and arson. He pleaded guilty to two counts of manslaughter at the Central Criminal Court in October 2024. In December 2024, Griffin was sentenced to seven years in prison with the final six months suspended.
