He denied the trespass charge at a contested hearing at Ennis District Court on 28 January 2025, and the case was adjourned to 26 February for written legal submissions. • Philip Dwyer convicted of failing to obey garda direction during Coolock riots Failing to comply with a garda direction (Public Order Act) · Co. Dublin

On 15 July 2024, during unrest in Coolock, Dublin, linked to plans to house international protection applicants in the disused Crown Paints factory, a garda inspector arrested Philip Dwyer, a 56-year-old father-of-three from Tallaght, on Malahide Road after he allegedly failed to leave the area when directed. Dwyer was charged under the Public Order Act with failing to comply with a garda direction and refusing to give his name and address, and he denied both. On 19 August 2024 a bail appeal removed his bail condition barring him from protests. At Dublin District Court on 13 February 2025, Judge John Hughes cleared him of refusing to give his name, found him guilty of failing to leave the area as directed, and gave him a two-month suspended sentence, a €500 fine and two years of reporting to the Probation Service.

  • Far-right activist acquitted of breach of the peace in Dublin Breach of the peace (threatening and abusive behaviour) · Co. Dublin

Philip Dwyer, 56, a far-right activist, was acquitted at Tallaght District Court on 19 September 2024 of a breach of the peace arising from an incident on 30 June 2021 at the Daisy Chain Creche in Rathfarnham, Dublin 16. Dwyer told creche owner Lucy Madigan that 'homosexuals are paedophiles' and accused her of promoting paedophilia and child molestation after she placed children's drawings of a rainbow flag in a window. A childcare assistant, Danielle Cramp, said she felt intimidated by Dwyer shouting at her from about 20 feet away. The judge found Dwyer did not intend to commit a breach of the peace and that the threshold for guilt had not been met.
