Philip Daly, a 52-year-old man from Balbriggan with 102 convictions, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to three counts of burglary, including breaking into a Texaco service station in Balbriggan in May 2020 with underpants over his head and stealing a till, and a hairdresser on Chapel Street in February 2020 where €200 was taken. He was found inside the service station by gardaí after a panic alarm and identified on CCTV. He had previously been sentenced to two and a half years, with the final 18 months suspended, for a further burglary at the same service station on the same day, and has since served that sentence. Judge Orla Crowe adjourned the case to order an updated probation report and fortnightly drug testing.
