Petros Tsiogas, a 63-year-old man from Beechfield Meadows, Clonee, Dublin 15, carried out unregistered gas installation work on nine houses in Dublin and Kildare between February 2023 and December 2024 while suspended from the gas registration scheme. A CRU safety officer received a call on 28 November 2024 about gas not working at a house in Celbridge, and the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) later prosecuted him on 23 charges. Judge Paul Kelly at Dublin District Court imposed a four-month sentence suspended for two years on condition that he not perform gas installations unless registered, and also ordered a €500 fine and €750 in prosecution costs. The sentencing was reported on 2 September 2025, which is the latest development.
