On the evening of Friday 2 January 2026, Gardaí seized drugs worth €310,600 in searches of houses in Bruree, Co Limerick and Charleville, Co Cork. Peter Vodros, a 45-year-old man, and a woman in her 30s (given as 38 in some reports) were arrested, and the woman was later released without charge with a file sent to the DPP. Vodros was charged with two Misuse of Drugs Act offences involving cannabis, which were alleged to have occurred on 2 January at an apartment on Main Street, Bruree. On Monday 5 January he appeared before Limerick District Court, where Judge Patricia Harney granted bail with conditions and remanded him to appear for DPP directions on 15 April 2026.
