    Peter Jones (38), of St Martha's Hostel, Knockahaw, Dublin Road, was charged with three Section 4 thefts from shops in Athlone, Westmeath, on 28 June, 29 June and 1 July 2023. CCTV footage existed for all three offences, and Jones was arrested at a later date and admitted the thefts. He pleaded guilty at Longford District Court before Judge Patricia Cronin. The latest development is that Judge Cronin imposed two months on the first offence, took the other two into consideration, and backdated the sentence to 5 August.
