On 2 November 2023 Peter Briody, a 33-year-old man of Padraic Colum Heights, Longford, was shouting and roaring at two other men on Ballymahon Street, Longford, after drinking too much around the time of his mother's anniversary. He was arrested after gardaí said he had been highly abusive to them, and was charged with intoxication in a public place and threatening abusive words or behaviour. At Longford District Court he was fined €300 on the threatening behaviour charge, and the intoxication charge was marked proven and taken into consideration.
