On 9 June 2026, a 38-year-old man, Penggu Song, was arrested on Tyrconnell Road, Dublin 8, after a Glock semi-automatic handgun and ammunition were seized. He was held overnight at Kevin Street garda station and charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and 12 rounds of ammunition, making no reply when charged. On 11 June 2026 he appeared before Judge Mark O'Connell at Dublin District Court, where he did not address the court or indicate a plea, and legal aid was granted. With no bail application and his consent, he was remanded in custody, and he is due to appear again at Cloverhill District Court on 18 June.
