• Coroner records verdict in fatal Co Clare car crash Road traffic incident (fatal) · Co. Clare

Peggy Morrissey, a 94-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene after her Silver Renault Clio crashed in a single-car collision at Annagh, Miltown Malbay, Co Clare, at approximately 12:30am on 7 December 2021. She was the driver and sole occupant of the car and had been en route to her son, RTE broadcaster Marty Morrissey. Her body was taken to Limerick University Hospital for a post-mortem examination, and Gardaí appealed for witnesses and camera footage. At an inquest in November 2022 at the County Clare Coroner's court in Kilrush, coroner Isobel O'Dea recorded a verdict of severe chest injuries consistent with a road traffic accident, and a collision investigator found speed was not a factor.
