On 25 August 2019, Craig McMahon, a 33-year-old man, was punched and stabbed while drinking with friends at Gerry Power's pub on William Street, Limerick City. Paul Mason, a 55-year-old man, and Christopher McCormack, a 65-year-old man, were charged with assault causing harm. In July 2022, Mason pleaded guilty and received a fully suspended two-year sentence at Limerick Circuit Court. In March 2025, McCormack pleaded guilty to the same charge and was sentenced to a fully suspended two-year term by Judge Colin Daly at Limerick Circuit Criminal Court.
