Paul Kelly, a 59-year-old man, was intoxicated and holding onto a patrol car in Aisling Park, Dundalk, around 5.20pm on 2 May 2022. He demanded the gardaí drive him home and threatened to thump a garda's head off before being restrained on the ground. Kelly was arrested for failing to comply with a direction to leave the area. The case was heard at Dundalk District Court before Judge Eirinn McKiernan. Kelly was fined €150 on foot of a bench warrant for threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour, with two further charges taken into consideration.
