Paul Hyde, a 50-year-old man from Baltimore, Co Cork, was charged with nine counts of making false or misleading declarations of interest under Section 147 of the Planning and Development Act between 2014 and 2022 while serving as a member and later deputy chair of An Bord Pleanála. Following a Garda investigation that began in August 2022, he pleaded guilty to two counts relating to 2015 and 2018 at Skibbereen District Court in June 2023, with the remaining seven counts withdrawn. On appeal at Cork Circuit Court in November 2023, Judge Colin Daly replaced the custodial sentences with a €6,000 fine and two three-month prison sentences suspended in their entirety.
