Paul Fox, a 61-year-old man from Dunleer, Louth, pleaded guilty at Dundalk court to 20 sample counts of forgery and making gain or causing loss by deception. Between 28 April and 29 December 2015, while working as a commission-based agent for Provident Personal Credit in Drogheda, he applied for fraudulent loans involving 30 individuals, leaving the company at a loss of almost €37,000. The fraud was driven by his gambling debts of €20,000. Judge Dara Hayes adjourned sentencing to 8 July 2022 and warned of a strong likelihood of a custodial sentence.
