Paul Fletcher, aged 35, of Nenagh, Tipperary, was convicted of deception at Limerick District Court over a collision on the Bloodmill Road, Limerick, late at night on 15 August 2014, which was found to be staged. Detective Garda Enda Clifford said Fletcher made his injury claim under duress and was pressured into the fake crash, while Judge Patricia Harney accepted the defendant's account. On 9 September 2026 Judge Harney convicted Fletcher and gave him a 12-month probation bond with no conditions, and he was released on an own bond of €100. A number of other defendants are before the courts in relation to the same matter.
