Paul Dooher, 28, struck Jason Haughey, 30, on a three-wheeled scooter while driving a borrowed car on Windyhall, Letterkenny, Co Donegal, in the early hours of 15 June 2020, and fled the scene. Haughey was found critically injured by a passing milkman around 4am and died at Letterkenny University Hospital. Dooher, who was disqualified from driving at the time, was arrested and charged with failing to report an accident, driving without insurance, unauthorised taking of a vehicle, and driving without a licence. He pleaded guilty at Letterkenny Circuit Court in February 2022. On 8 February 2022, Judge John Aylmer sentenced Dooher to four years' imprisonment and disqualified him from driving for ten years.
