    Paul Cowell, a 54-year-old man originally from the UK, was sentenced at Letterkenny Circuit Court on 26 October 2022 for possession and distribution of child pornography. Gardaí raided his home at Meenacladdy, Gortahork, Co Donegal on 11 December 2021 and seized 202 videos and 412 images depicting the sexual abuse of prepubescent children and babies from his laptop. He was charged under the Child Trafficking and Pornography Act 1998 and appeared by videolink at Falcarragh District Court in December 2021, where reporting restrictions were refused. Judge John Aylmer sentenced him to four and a half years for distribution and two and a half years for possession, running concurrently, with the final 12 months suspended on conditions of rehab and good behaviour.
