Patrick Stokes, 42, of Castledermot, County Kildare, admitted a number of theft offences across County Kildare, including stealing 17 bottles of Smirnoff vodka worth €391 from a Lidl store on February 11. He is also accused of stealing about €5,995 from a safe at Inver Service Station in Athy on August 11, and the judge refused jurisdiction over that offence. On Thursday, September 21, Judge Desmond Zaidan at Naas District Court imposed five months on each of two offences, ten months in total, backdated to September 7 when Stokes first went into custody. The Athy case resumes on October 5, when a book of evidence is due to be presented.
