  Patrick Sheedy, a 53-year-old man, posed as a documentary creator commissioned by RTÉ, a Department of Education employee, and a BMW employee to order mobile phones from three companies in Dublin between January and September 2020. He ordered 15 phones worth €12,460 from an electronics company, 12 phones worth €9,801 from an educational supplies company, and five iPhones worth €4,200 from a mobile phone company, selling the goods for cash. He pleaded guilty to six counts of deception and four counts of theft at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. Judge Martin Nolan sentenced him to 15 months' imprisonment, consecutive to a sentence he is already serving from Limerick Circuit Court in October 2020.

  Patrick Sheedy, a 53-year-old man, pretended to be working with Virgin Media television to obtain three iPhones from Apple Computers in Hollyhill, Cork, on 7 August 2020. The phones, valued at €2,869, were sold to fund his gambling addiction and were not returned when Apple requested them in September 2020. He appeared before Cork District Court where he admitted the theft. Judge Olann Kelleher sentenced him to ten months in prison, noting his 94 previous convictions including 37 for deception.
