  Two men aged in their 20s and 30s were seriously injured in an alleged double stabbing in Teffia Park, Longford town, on the night of 9 February 2026 at about 9pm, and were taken to Mullingar's Midland Regional Hospital. The incident is believed to be connected to an earlier shooting at a house in Garvey's Close, arising from an escalating feud. Patrick Nugent, 37, and Lewis Nugent, 18, both of Athlone Road, Longford, were arrested on 2 March 2026 and charged with violent disorder, assault causing harm, production of an article, and affray. They appeared in Longford District Court on 3 March, where Patrick Nugent was remanded in custody with consent to bail on a €6,000 independent surety and Lewis Nugent was released on bail on a €2,000 surety, with his case adjourned to 21 April.
