  In February 2023, Patrick McInerney, a 40-year-old man from Kilkishen, Co Clare, engaged in sexually explicit video calls and sent explicit images to two people he believed were 14-year-old girls, who were decoys set up by a UK vigilante group. He also sent explicit images to a woman selling puppies online and was reported to have stood naked in his village. He pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court in March 2024 and was sentenced to three years in prison with the final 18 months suspended on strict conditions. In November 2026, McInerney, now 42, was charged with exposing his penis on a train while on his suspended sentence and was remanded in custody by Judge Nolan, who indicated he may re-activate the balance of the sentence under strict supervision.

• Father and son fined for public intoxication in Portlaoise Public intoxication · Co. Laois

  John McInerney, 76, and his son Patrick McInerney, 43, were arrested after stumbling on the Mountmellick Road in Portlaoise at 1.30am on January 27, 2026, after drinking and failing to get a taxi. Both men were charged with public intoxication, and Patrick was additionally charged with refusing to provide his name and address to Gardaí. They appeared in Portlaoise District Court on February 18, 2026, where they pleaded guilty through their solicitor. Judge Coggans gave John one month to pay €150 to the court poor box, with a conviction and €300 fine as the default, and said she would do the same for Patrick, while the case was adjourned to March 23.

  Patrick McInerney, a 39-year-old man of Kilkishen, Co Clare, has been charged with five offences involving a child that allegedly occurred earlier this year, including attempting to send sexually explicit material to a child and attempting to facilitate the sexual exploitation of a child under 17. The child's age and sex are not given. He was charged at a Dublin Garda station and appeared before Judge Bryan Smyth at Dublin District Court on a Monday, where the Director of Public Prosecutions directed trial on indictment at the Circuit Court and he was granted bail on a €500 bond. The latest development is that he is due to appear again in November to be served with a book of evidence and returned for trial.
