Eddie Hutch, a 58-year-old (reports differ: 59) taxi driver and father of five, was shot dead outside his home on Poplar Row, Ballybough, Dublin 3, on 8 February 2016, three days after the murder of David Byrne at the Regency Hotel. Gardaí believe the killing was a targeted retaliation for the Regency Hotel shooting as part of the Hutch-Kinahan gangland feud. A 42-year-old Kinahan gang member was arrested from Mountjoy Prison in April 2023 and released without charge, and a man in his 40s was arrested in April and May 2023 and also released without charge. A file was sent to the DPP in early 2024 recommending that up to 10 people, including Daniel Kinahan, Sean McGovern, Gary Finnegan, Trevor Byrne, and Joseph Warren, be charged. As of September 2026, the DPP is still considering whether to pursue charges and the inquest was adjourned again for six months.
