Patrick Lawrence, 28, of Longford, pleaded guilty at Longford District Court in November 2022 to assaulting Kevin Stokes and causing criminal damage to his red BMW with a golf club at Aldi Car Park, Longford, in April 2019. The attack followed a dispute between two rival Traveller families over a relationship between Stokes' daughter and a Lawrence family member. Stokes, who was wheelchair-bound after a hit-and-run two weeks earlier that left him with disabling injuries, told the court glass went into his eyes during the attack. Judge Bernadette Owens sentenced Lawrence to nine months each for the assault and criminal damage, running concurrently, with the production of a golf club charge taken into consideration. Lawrence had earlier been sentenced to ten years in prison for the hit-and-run.

On 30 April 2019, two men drove their cars at the Stokes family at Annaly Car Park, Longford, following an appearance at Longford Circuit Court, leaving Kevin Stokes Snr wheelchair-bound and injuring Kevin Stokes Jnr and Chantelle Stokes. Joe Lawrence, 38, and Patrick Lawrence, 39, were sentenced in May 2022 to ten years in prison with the final two years suspended for five years, and both were disqualified from driving for ten years. Rebecca Lawrence was sentenced to two years in prison, suspended in full for five years, for falsely reporting her husband's car as stolen. In November 2022, Daniel Lawrence, 31, and David Lawrence, 26, who had produced a hammer and a hatchet during the incident, received three-year suspended sentences for violent disorder.
