  Patrick Larkin, 68, of Kilkee, Clare, was sentenced to 11 years and four months' imprisonment, with the final 18 months suspended, for sexual and indecent assaults on four young girls between 1976 and 2018. He pleaded guilty to 53 sample counts concerning three victims and one count of sexual assault relating to a 2018 assault on a fourth girl. Larkin, a man who had worked for Clare County Council for 35 years, voluntarily went into custody at his initial sentencing hearing in November 2022. Judge Francis Comerford passed the sentence at Ennis Circuit Court in March 2023, saying his crimes did very great damage to his four victims.
