Alice Kitty Dunleavy, a four-year-old girl from Ballina, County Mayo, was struck by a reversing car at Atlantic Caravan Park in Enniscrone, County Sligo, on 5 August 2022 and died in hospital. Patrick Higgins, a 92-year-old man from Dungannon, County Tyrone, was charged with driving a vehicle without due care and attention causing her death. A garda gave evidence of arresting him shortly after midday, and he made no reply when charged. He appeared before Sligo District Court on 7 December 2023 and was sent forward for trial.
