Patrick Fahey, a 47-year-old man from Ballymun, Dublin, carried out a series of shop robberies and attempted robberies across the city between August 22 and October 15, 2019, using a hammer, a small knife, and other items to steal cash and goods. He also robbed a Spar in Rathbourne in April 2021 and a St Vincent de Paul shop in Finglas in September 2021. Fahey made full admissions to gardaí and identified himself from CCTV footage in some incidents. He pleaded guilty to nine counts in total. Judge Martin Nolan sentenced him to 6½ years at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court in July 2022, backdated to October 3, 2021.
