• Two women plead guilty to theft from Ballybofey supermarket Theft · Co. Donegal

  Two women, Patricia Sweeney, 60, and Bernadette McGahern, 59, who worked as shop assistants at Solo Stores in Sessiaghoneill, Ballybofey, Donegal, are charged with 26 counts of theft of money and goods. The charges allege the thefts occurred between October 1 and December 31, 2021, while the Circuit Court charges state the period as January 1 to March 31, 2019. The women were charged at Letterkenny District Court in November 2024 and sent for trial at Letterkenny Circuit Court in March 2025. In June 2025, both pleaded guilty to sample charges and the case was adjourned for a probation and welfare report, with the defence seeking a January 2026 sentencing date.
