    On March 2, 2025, Patrica Ryan of Ballyragget, Kilkenny, a woman, was charged with assaulting a nurse during a night shift in the resuscitation room of the emergency department at St Luke's Hospital, Kilkenny. The nurse gave evidence that she was grabbed as she bent down and that Ryan would not let go, and two hospital porters separated them. Garda Daniel Troy investigated and took a statement from the accused. After a hearing in the District Court, Judge Patricia Cronin convicted Ryan, and on 31 July 2026 Ryan was ordered to enter a bond to keep the peace for 12 months, the latest reported development.
