latest first- RTE broadcasts sexual assault allegations against Naas Hospital doctor Sexual assault · Co. Kildare
In October 2010, 19-year-old 'Ryan' alleged that Dr Pathmadevan Rathnam, a Malaysian doctor at Naas General Hospital in Kildare, visited him at night and asked him to slide his trousers and underwear down for an examination. At least one other male minor also alleged inappropriate touching by the doctor. The hospital suspended Dr Rathnam in April 2011, and he left Ireland before Gardaí could question him. He was struck off the medical register in June 2015, and the civil case was settled in 2019. The Garda investigation remains ongoing, and RTE broadcast the allegations in May 2022.
