On February 6, 2021, a fire damaged a green Renault van and a Peugeot 307 car outside a home on Park Road, Longford, with no injuries reported. Paddy Rogers, a man in his mid-20s from Ferefad, Longford, pleaded guilty to damaging a car by fire and damage by fire to a van, and received a three-year sentence suspended for five years in July 2022. On December 9, 2025, he was imprisoned at Mullingar Circuit Court for a further arson offence, which triggered the 2022 suspended sentence. At Longford Circuit Court, the judge revoked the entire suspension, directed two years to be served consecutively to the Mullingar sentence, and said the final 15 months would be suspended for three years after release. The latest reported development, published on June 11, 2026, is that Rogers must enter a €100 bond and submit to an 18-month probation supervision bond.
