The Criminal Assets Bureau successfully applied to the High Court for proceeds of crime orders against brothers Owen and Brendan Maguire, alleged leading figures in the Price-Maguire organised crime group based in Drogheda, Co Louth, with Owen Maguire paralysed from the chest down after being shot in July 2018. The group allegedly controls drug distribution in the east and northeast, particularly in Drogheda, extending into Meath and Dublin. On 18 January 2023, the High Court deemed properties, vehicles, €305,000 in cash and a €16,500 Rolex watch as proceeds of crime and appointed a receiver to sell the vehicles and watch, while a further receivership application for two properties was adjourned. Neither brother appeared in court, and the Maguires have not been charged or convicted for any of the alleged activities.

Keith Branigan, a 29-year-old man from Drogheda, was fatally shot at Ashling Holiday Park in Clogherhead, County Louth, on 27 August 2019 while working on decking at a mobile home. The shooting is believed to be linked to a feud between rival gangs in Drogheda, with Branigan targeted by associates of paralysed mob boss Owen Maguire because of his friendship with the leader of a rival gang. Four people were arrested between June 2022 and February 2023, all released without charge with files prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions. The inquest was opened at Ardee District Court in October 2022 and adjourned pending the criminal investigation. Investigations into the murder are ongoing five years after the shooting.
