On May 31, 2022, in Kilkenny City, gardaí spoke to Onum Ndukwe, a man who had drink taken, while he sat in a parked car near the bus parking area, and advised him to take a taxi home. Gardaí later saw him driving, and he narrowly avoided an accident at a roundabout on the Waterford Road before being arrested at the second roundabout there. A urine sample showed 275mgs of alcohol per 100mls, and he was charged with drink driving. On May 4, 2023, he pleaded guilty at Kilkenny District Court, was fined €250 and disqualified from driving for three years, starting September 1, 2023.
