latest first- High Court dismisses fatal injuries claim over Wexford road death Death (road traffic incident) · Co. Wexford
In 2013, Cara Lee O'Brien, a woman aged 23, died in a road traffic collision near Raheenashkeagh, Co Wexford, when her son was three. Oliver Nuzum, a man from Coolgreany, Co Wexford, was the other driver and sustained serious injuries, with no memory of the incident. There were no witnesses to the collision. In April 2022, the High Court dismissed a fatal injuries claim brought by Caroline O'Brien, Cara's mother, on behalf of her late daughter's statutory dependants, including her now 11-year-old son. The judge found the evidence did not establish any fault on Nuzum's part, noting a Garda forensic collision investigator attributed the cause to the deceased.
