• Man to be sentenced after child pornography plea in Letterkenny Possession of child pornography · Co. Donegal

Oliver Ferris, a 25-year-old man, pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography at Letterkenny Circuit Court after a lost hard drive found at Letterkenny Institute of Technology in March 2019 contained nine videos, 84 images and 43 URLs of children being sexually abused, some as young as five. Gardaí traced the drive to Ferris through college coursework and called to his home in Letterkenny on 15 April 2019, where he handed over an iPhone, an Apple Mac and an iPad. The devices were sent to the National Computer Crime Unit for analysis. Judge John Aylmer adjourned final sentencing to the following Thursday after Ferris's defence sought continued counselling in lieu of jail.
