Octavian Cebanu, a man, 37, was arrested in Granard, Co Longford, after reports of a man in army clothing walking on Main Street with what appeared to be a handgun shortly after 8pm on 6 January 2023. A follow-up search of his home by local Gardaí and the Armed Support Unit recovered an imitation firearm and a holster. He was charged with possession of a realistic imitation firearm under section 9A of the Firearms and Offensive Weapons Act and appeared at Longford District Court on several occasions. In June 2023, he was fined €400 with five months to pay.
