    Noel Sheehan, 80, a former Scout leader from Glenville, Co Cork, was accused of indecently assaulting five young boys at locations in Cork and Waterford between 1987 and 1990. He pleaded not guilty but was found guilty in April 2024 on 16 counts of indecent assault. Judge Helen Boyle at Anglesea Street Courthouse in Cork sentenced him to 4½ years, with the final six months suspended. On 28 January 2026 his barristers argued at the Court of Appeal, where he is appealing his conviction, that the woodland allegation should have been tried separately from the other four complaints, and the court reserved its decision.

    Noel Sheehan, a 78-year-old retired hospital porter and former scout leader from Chimneyfields, Glenville, Co Cork, was convicted in April 2024 of indecently assaulting five boys aged 10 to 12 in his scout troop during camping weekends between 1987 and 1990. He had denied all 17 charges, and a jury at Cork Circuit Criminal Court found him guilty on 16 and disagreed on the 17th. He was remanded in custody, and in June 2024 Judge Helen Boyle sentenced him to four-and-a-half years with the final six months suspended, although the Irish Times reported the term as four years. On 13 June 2024 he was sentenced, which is the latest development.
